A note on "self-reliance"

“For my people have committed two evils:  they have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and hewed out cisterns for themselves, broken cisterns that can hold no water.” ~Jeremiah 2:13

Challenge for you, Dad: Take a look in the mirror and ask, “where am I being self-reliant?” “Where am I doing things in my own strength?” “Where do I have the “I got this’ attitude?” “Where am I turning for joy, strength, peace, and soul satisfaction other than God?” It sounds ridiculous and perhaps elementary, I know. But the journey down the road of destruction happens in baby steps. And one of those steps can begin with pride (self-reliance). These are the “cisterns” we dig and attempt to put our life into, but that leak and “hold no water (life)”. Only He satisfies. Let go of self righteousness and self reliance. Be ruthless in your dependence on His Spirit and His life moving in you.
